Ordering Coral Putty from Dow Corning#include "std_disclaimer.h"All logos, titles etc. of Dow Corning are copyrighted, trademarked etc. by Dow Corning Corp and are used without permission. I'm not sure how universally accurate this information will be but with your help, I'll try to make it as useful as possible.
Step 1: First, get together a bunch of friends that, in
total, want 100 or more pounds of putty. (For an example
friend, see Seth and his 15lbs at right.)If you are having trouble finding enough friends with disposable income, join the putty mailling list and ask there. There are always people who would be willing to chip in.
Dow sells their putty in quantities of 50 pounds and since
50 pounds cost less than their minimum purchase you'll have to order
100 pounds or more. 100 pounds should total less than $800, including
tax.
Step 2: Give Dow a call. Their number is 800 248-2481. Wait for an opperator and tell him/her that you want to buy 100 pounds of "3179 Dilatent Compound". The opporator will probably look something up and then transfer you to the chemicals division. (I used to keep track of area account reps but the list was always out of date. We wouldn't want to bug our good friends at Dow Corning who are no longer responsible for those areas, so I removed the list.) When you get there, tell them that you need to set up a "cash in advance" account to purchase 100 pounds of "3179 Dilatent Compound". Honestly answer all their questions and they will give you a call back with the exact amount (including shipping and tax). NOTE: I recently received a note in the mail that says they now accept credit cards! The number listed is a little different: 800-248-0248. I suspect this number and the one above are somewhat interchangable. Step 3: When you get the exact price, write a check for the amount and send it to the address they give you. Step 4: Wait. Step 5: When you receive the shipment, divide up your conquest and enjoy! If you have any questions about the steps or have some suggestions for improvement, get on the mailing list (see here for subscription form.) and mention it. |
